Words You May Not Know
We use some technical terms on this portal. Here is what they mean, explained simply.
Block Explorer
A website where you can look up cryptocurrency transactions. Think of it like tracking a package — you can see when money was sent, how much, and where it went. We provide links so you can verify that Webull actually holds the funds we say we do.
Case Reference
A unique number given to you when you fill out the optional form or when our team creates one for you. It looks like this: CASE-7K2M-9P4N-8W3X. You will use this number when you message us on Signal so we can find your information quickly.
Custodial Freeze
A temporary hold on your money. When the freeze was in place, you could not move funds out of your Webull account. This was done to protect your money after the breach was discovered. The freeze is now being lifted, and your funds are being released.
On-Chain Proof
A permanent record on the blockchain that shows a transaction happened. Once a cryptocurrency transaction is recorded, it cannot be changed or deleted. This means you have proof that your funds were released.
Phishing
A scam where criminals send fake emails or messages that look like they come from a real company. They try to trick you into sending money to the wrong place. During this incident, some of you received phishing messages that used your real information to look convincing. That is why we are so careful about security now.
Private Key
A secret code that gives you access to your cryptocurrency wallet. Think of it like the master password to your bank account. Never share this with anyone. Webull will never ask for it. If anyone asks, it is a scam.
Seed Phrase
A set of 12 or 24 words that can recover your wallet if you lose access. Like a private key, it gives full access to your money. Never share this with anyone. Webull will never ask for it. If anyone asks, it is a scam.
Signal
A free, secure messaging app. It works like texting, but your messages are private and cannot be read by anyone else. We use Signal because it is the safest way to communicate about your money. Our official account is @WebullRelease.
TXID (Transaction ID)
A tracking number for a cryptocurrency transaction. Just like you can track a package with a tracking number, you can use a TXID to look up the details of any money transfer on a block explorer.
Verification Deposit
A small deposit required to prove you are the account owner. This is not a fee — you get it back along with your released funds. The amount depends on your account balance, and our team will tell you exactly what to expect before you send anything.
Wallet Address
Where your cryptocurrency is sent. Think of it like an email address, but for money. It is a long string of letters and numbers, like this: 0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc9e7595f2bD78. You will give us your wallet address so we can send your funds to you.
